Workshop - Introduction to Qi Gong (Saigon Om)
with SaigonOm

August 6 (Saturday)
at 11:30 am

Class length
120 minutes

Location
Studio 330

Qi Gong is a 4000 year-old ancient Chinese wellness practice that has its roots in Traditional Chinese Medicine. It is an elegant, meditative movement practice that combines gentle movement, breath practice and meditation to create a calm, natural balance of energy. The best part is that it’s easy and can be practiced standing up or sitting down at any time of the day for 10, 20, 30 or 45 minutes.

At this workshop you will learn two main practices and carry them home with you to continue your personal practice:

1) Simple warm up exercises to activate internal energy, clear energetic blockages, and increase circulation to wake up the body and mind.
2) A short Qi Gong sequence with slow flowing movements coordinated with breath to bring calmness to body and mind.

This workshop is ideal for those who’d like to incorporate Qi Gong into their daily practice, before a yoga practice, gym session, presentation, or practice at home every day.

All levels of practitioners are welcome. Children 11 years old or older are also encouraged to attend.

What to bring:
  • A yoga mat
  • Water bottle
  • Notebook & pen
About the facilitator, Hang Nhan:
Hang spent many years (20+) practicing and competing in mixed martial arts (MMA), including WTF Taekwondo, Brazillian Jiu Jitsu, Judo, Kung Fu, Cali (stick fighting), hand-to-hand combat. It was repeated MMA injuries that closed her door to competition. It was also a huge blessing that initiated her Qi Gong and Yang Tai Chi journey in Canada and eventually in southern China in 2006 where she spent two solid years diligently deepening her internal martial arts practice in the Lohan system (Shaolin) of Qi Gong. To further her Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) studies, Hang is a student and practitioner of acupressure and Thai massage, also based on TCM theories. Hang is known to be a passionate person of what she practices; from Qi Gong to yoga to mindfulness to Reiki to self-defense. As an experienced school teacher, Hang’s teaching style is inclusive, lively & fun! Hang has also written a book called “Self-Defense for Women” from a woman’s perspective.
