A stable core is the key to a powerful and safe yoga practice. This stability is essential for everything—from deep backbends to finding balance, and from mastering challenging arm balances to harnessing your breath. Furthermore, strong core muscles promote emotional balance and positively influence digestion.
The focus of this workshop is on integrated core health, linking a Western understanding of core anatomy with the traditional concepts of Bandhas.
Bandhas—derived from the Sanskrit word Bandh, meaning “to bind,” “join,” or “contain”—are subtle muscle contractions. By connecting our knowledge of anatomy and the function of the Bandhas, we create enormous potential for stability and strength in our physical practice.
What you will explore:
· Fundamental Stability: The role of the deep core muscles in complex asanas and in daily life.
· The Power of Bandhas: A detailed look at the activation and application of these subtle contractions, which allow us to dive much deeper into the experience of the asana.
